SOAR: Tropical Butterflies at South Coast Botanic Garden
- see all dates
South Coast Botanic Garden is soaring to great heights with the return of the butterfly experience, which features tropical butterflies in the garden's specially-built pavilion. Returning for 2024: the butterfly feeding experience.
SOAR gives locals a chance to see hundreds of tropical butterflies that wouldn’t normally be seen in Southern California
The experience begins in the Host and Nectar Garden where guests wander through beautiful species that are part of a butterfly’s habitat. Next is the Emergence Chamber where guests may just see a butterfly emerge from its pupa! The pavilion follows, offering an up-close-and-personal experience with the hundreds of butterflies flying throughout the exhibit. There are additional photo opportunities outside of the pavilion as well.
The Butterfly Feeding Experience is an additional $6. While inside the pavilion, guests use a flower vial filled with nectar to help entice butterflies to come close for an immersive experience.
