Christmas Tree Farms in Los Angeles 

1. Chamberlain Choose and Cut Christmas Trees — Claremont

This small farm in Claremont allows families to cut a tree themselves and will let you bring in your own saw or chainsaw. Pups can also join in the fun. The farm opens the Saturday after Thanksgiving and runs weekends from 10am to 5pm until the trees are sold out. 

2. Frosty's Forest Christmas Trees — Santa Clarita 

At this Santa Clarita Christmas tree lot, you won't be tromping through a thick forest of towering pines to find your tree. Admittedly, you'll be able to hear the traffic from a nearby road and may want to opt for a taller fir that has been hauled down from Oregon.

If you want to hold fast to a cut-your-own-tree tradition, Frosty's Forest has a small plot of rooted pines ready to be sawed off and taken home. The friendly staff are happy to help you cut, net, and secure your tree on the car for the ride back. Frosty's will open on Friday, November 24, 2023. 

3. Santa and Sons Christmas Trees — Burbank

It seems that Santa does more than check his nice or naughty list and delivers toys to kids around the world. He provides fresh Christmas trees to families in Burbank. While you can't cut down a Christmas tree at this lot at LA Valley College, you can order a Christmas tree online and get it delivered to your door if you live within specific areas of LA.

Choose from Freshly cut Noble Fir, Silver Tip, and Douglas Fir Christmas trees up to 11' tall. Santa and Sons opens on Friday, November 24, 2023. 

4. Mount Eagle Christmas Tree Lot — Eagle Rock

Pre-cut Christmas trees are available on the eastside at this Eagle Rock lot. They're known to have very fresh trees and open early for the season—so early that it's usually before Thanksgiving. This lot is already open for business in 2023, and you can select from Noble Fir, Douglas Fir, and Nordmann Fir in various sizes. 

5. Oregon Family Christmas Trees — Woodland Hills 

This is another Christmas tree farm in LA where you can select a pre-cut tree versus cutting your own. Grand Fir, Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, and Nordmann Fir trees are shipped from a farm in Oregon to this lot at the Pierce College Equestrian Center. Holiday music and decor will accompany your tree selection. There's a gift shop on-site, too. They open for the season on Saturday, November 25, 2023. 

6. Deluca Farm — San Pedro

The Christmas tree season kicks off at Deluca Farm with a tree lighting on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 5pm with Santa, vendors, and food trucks. The farm has a large selection of pre-cut Christmas trees at the corner of 9th St. & Western Ave in San Pedro.

Christmas Tree Farms in Ventura County

7. Christmas Ranch Tree Farms — Thousand Oaks

This magical forest in Thousand Oaks is open from 9am to 7pm on weekends and Monday to Friday from 12pm to 7pm. Guests can choose from 13 acres of Monterey Pines, Aleppo Pines, and Leyland Cypress trees. The lot accepts cash, checks, and credit cards and opens for business on Friday, November 24, 2023. All equipment is provided for you, including saws and carts. Free delivery is also available. 

8. Hagle Tree Farm — Somis

If you want a Christmas tree-cutting experience that feels like a Hallmark movie, then this is the place. Even Hallmark thinks so! In 2022, Hallmark Channel used this farm as the backdrop for their Countdown to Christmas celebration. 

Hagle Tree Farm is not far from our beloved Underwood Family Farms (which also has Christmas trees but doesn't offer a cut-your-own-option) and has rows and rows of Monterey Pines ready for the cutting, with saws and wheel barrels provided. During the first two weekends of the season, the farm offers plenty of holiday activities, including hay rides, Santa meet and greets, pony rides, and visits with the farm animals. 

9. Underwood Family Farms — Moorpark 

You might not be able to saw down your own Christmas tree at Underwood Family Farms, but there are plenty of pre-cut varieties available, ranging from Noble, Grand, Fraser, Nordman, and Douglas Fir Silver Tip Trees. Trees are provided by Big Wave Dave's, and the lot is located outside the Moorpark Farm Center.

The Christmas tree lot opens on Friday, November 24, 2023, which happens to be the same day that Underwood's magical Christmas on the Farm begins. There are endless farm animals to see and holiday activities for kids, including live reindeer and visits with Santa.

Orange County Christmas Tree Farms

10. Peltzer Pines — Silverado 

Head into the mountains east of the Inland Empire to discover Peltzer Pines, a live Christmas tree farm with all the nostalgia and wonderment you've seen in a Hallmark movie. While the Peltzer Pines in Brea is permanently closed, the Silverado location lives on. Opening day for 2023 is Saturday, November 18. The farm offers acres and acres of growing trees so that you can find your perfect match. 

Once you've selected the tree meant for your home, friendly staff will cut it for you or help you cut it yourself. Guests are now allowed to saw unsupervised, as the farm views it as a safety hazard. Keep in mind that the farm does not allow photographs with professional cameras (phones are okay). They are also cash and check only. There are ATMs on-site in case you need to pull out some bills. 

11. Farmakis Farms — San Juan Capistrano

This one is a bit of a drive in south Orange County, but Farmakis Farms is a forest-sized wonderland of Monterey Pines ready to be cut and trekked home for the holidays. Before you grab that saw and start hacking, keep in mind that at Farmakis, the staff does the cutting for you. Your job is to select the perfect tree, alert a professional, and watch while they fell it. The staff are happy to flock the free for an additional price and also offer delivery within a certain radius. Farmakis Farms opens on Friday, November 24, 2023. 

Christmas Tree Farms in Riverside County

12. The Wickerd Farm — Menifee

The Wickerd Farm has been a family business since the 1980s. The tree farm offers fresh fir trees cut and carted from Oregon or cut-your-own Monterey Pines that have been cared for and grown for three to five years. If you want to browse trees before taking one home, Wickerd encourages shoppers to select a tree, bring the tag number to the gift shop, and reserve the tree to pick up later. The lot is open for reservations starting November 17 for the year 2023. This charming farm also offers a variety of fun activities for families yearly. 

13. Rye Farms —​ Nuevo

Breathe in the scent of living pines at this stunning farm in Nuevo. Wander through the rows of pine trees and select your own, cut it down, and take it home that day. If you are looking for a giant tree, Rye Farms sells towering pines up to 14 feet. These are reservable and go fast, so grab one quickly.

In addition to cut-your-own-pines, the farm hauls in hundreds of Noble Firs from Oregon. There is no additional charge for cutting your own conifer, and the farm also provides tree netting, tree shaking, and tree flocking. A small concessions stand on the property provides hot cocoa and snacks for your adventure. The fun begins on November 18, 2023. 

14. Sand Haven Pines — Perris 

Santa is passing out free candy canes, and chilly tree cutters can warm up around a cozy bonfire at this charming location in Perris with cut-your-own trees and potted varieties. Kids can also tumble in an inflatable jumper. Parents can enjoy complimentary coffee and popcorn before starting their search for the perfect tree.

Families are welcome to reserve their tree in advance and can cut it down themselves or ask staff to assist. Attractions and activities begin on Friday, December 1, 2023, and are available on weekends only. Tree season starts on November 18, 2023. Head to their website for a $5 coupon to apply to your Christmas tree.

San Bernardino County Christmas Tree Farms

15. Greenspot Farms — Mentone

Starting the day after Thanksgiving, head to Greenspot Farms to select and cut your holiday tree. If you can't wait until then to head to the farm, come out starting October 1st and reserve your tree in advance. There is a wide selection of redwoods, cedars, and Monterey Pines at heights from tabletop to 16 feet. After you pick the perfect tree, hop on the Christmas Hayride starting Friday, December 1, 2023. Kids and adults can enjoy Christmas cookies, a visit with Santa, s'mores by the firepit, and a Christmas movie. The hayride is $10 per child or $15 per adult, but admission to wander the farm is free. 

Tree-Cutting Tips To Know Before You Cut Your Own Christmas Tree 

• Call the farms before you go. Hours listed are subject to change based on weather and tree availability.
• Most farms are open by Thanksgiving weekend, though some open earlier.
• Some locations do not accept credit cards.
• At some tree lots, you can not bring the tree home the day you pick it out. Make sure that you know before you go.
• Bringing work gloves and tarps (for the car) are recommended and usually not provided.
• Ask if you need to bring a saw (chainsaws are typically not allowed).
• If you want to bring a furry friend along, check with the farm first to see if dogs are allowed.
